“Our system in United States is set up in a way that forces us to compromise. The Founders thought the great threat to a democracy is factionalism.”
n June 25th, Merion West‘s Kevin Turner interviewed David Horowitz, an American conservative writer and activist. Mr. Horowitz is the founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center think tank, which publishes FrontPage Magazine, a conservative news and commentary site. He is also the author of a number of books, including Radical Son: A Generational Odyssey, The Black Book of the American Left, and Blitz: Trump Will Smash the Left and Win.
During the course of the conversation, Mr. Horowitz, an outspoken conservative, provides his unique opinions on the state of the country today.
On perceived threats to the freedom of speech in America, Mr. Horowitz contends that the danger is coming from the Left. He says:
“[The Republican Party] does not criminalize thoughts, but the Democrat Party has criminalized thoughts. Once you do that, it is easy so say anybody disagrees with you is committing a hate crime, and they manage to do it.”
On the treatment of President Trump by the media, Mr. Horowitz states:
“Normally, and according to Gallup, a president gets some honeymoon time of seven months or a year where he is allowed to appoint his cabinet, get his policies in place and then the political conflicts resume. But Trump did not even get seven seconds.”
Mr. Horowitz is also asked what he makes of the civil unrest that has gripped the country in recent weeks. He replies:
“It’s a communist revolt. I think it is premature that the Left exposed itself as the vile, malevolent organism that it is. They are destroyers. It is all based on a racial hoax. None of these cases has any evidence that there is a racial dimension to it. On the George Floyd case, there are four officers; one of them is an African-American, one is an Asian-American.”
On the United States’ republican form of governance, he says:
“Our system in United States is set up in a way that forces us to compromise. The Founders thought the great threat to a democracy is factionalism.”
