Good morning. Here’s what you need to know.

TOP FIVE

‘Catastrophic’ floods inundate Houston (NPR) – “At least two people have been killed as the Houston area continues to be inundated by torrential rain and catastrophic flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey, which officials called an “unprecedented” weather event that has left thousands of homes flooded, stranding some people and overwhelming rescue workers. . . . The NWS expected storm totals in isolated areas could reach 50 inches. The AP reported that would be the highest rainfall ever recorded in Texas. As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the storm had dumped more than 24 inches of rain.”

Black-clad anarchists storm Berkeley rally, assaulting 5 (AP) – “Black-clad anarchists on Sunday stormed into what had been a largely peaceful Berkeley protest against hate and attacked at least five people, including the leader of a politically conservative group who canceled an event a day earlier in San Francisco amid fears of violence. The group of more than 100 hooded protesters, with shields emblazoned with the words ‘no hate’ and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through police lines, avoiding security checks by officers to take away possible weapons. Then the anarchists blended with a crowd of 2,000 largely peaceful protesters who turned up to demonstrate in a “Rally Against Hate” opposed to a much smaller gathering of right-wing protesters.”

Trump: ‘I want tariffs. Bring me some tariffs!’ (Axios) – “‘John, let me tell you why they didn’t bring me any tariffs,’ [Trump] said. ‘I know there are some people in the room right now that are upset. I know there are some globalists in the room right now. And they don’t want them, John, they don’t want the tariffs. But I’m telling you, I want tariffs.'”

Mayweather vs. McGregor results (SBNation) – “Conor McGregor looked better than expected, but ultimately couldn’t keep up with one of boxing’s greatest as Floyd Mayweather Jr. scored a 10th-round TKO victory when McGregor was unable to answer several huge shots to the head. Mayweather is now 50-0 as a professional.”

Game of Thrones season finale review (IGN) – “While last week’s episode seemed to rush through big moments, “The Dragon and the Wolf” slowed things down considerably, delivering lengthy meaningful scenes filled with dialogue, deception, revelations, twists – and the most major characters ever assembled into one spot ever on the series. To cap it all off, we got a big action sequence that drastically changed the game board going into the the final season.”

Dog carrying bag of food after Hurricane Harvey becomes viral hero (Houston Chronicle) – “‘Otis can go to Dairy Queen and he can get a hamburger. He’s the only dog allowed to lie down in front of the county court house,’ Segovia said. ‘He also goes to H.E.B. He’s not a stray. He’s a good dog.'”
